Some things are worth doing slowly.
We started Baghpat House because we believed that the most honest materials on earth — leather, raffia, palm leaf, jute, rattan, kauna grass — deserve hands that understand them.
For over fourteen years, our atelier in Gurugram, Haryana, has been a workroom, not a factory. Every product that leaves here has been cut, shaped, woven, and finished by artisans who have spent years learning the temperament of natural fibre. The way leather softens over time. The way raffia holds tension but not rigidity. The way palm leaf must be worked at a certain moisture, or it splits.
These are not details you can automate. They are knowledge that lives in the hands.
We have produced over 7,000 products across categories — bags, totes, baskets, boxes, travel goods, accessories — for designers, buying houses, and brands in Europe, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. Every piece was made to someone else's brief, to their specifications, to their deadline. We did it well. We still do.
But over fourteen years of making things for the world's most discerning markets, we developed a conviction of our own: the customer who buys something handmade from natural materials is not buying a product. They are choosing a position. Against disposability. Against uniformity. Against the synthetic and the simulated.
We decided it was time to make things under our own name.
Natural fibre is not a trend. It is not a sustainability talking point to be abandoned next season. Leather ages into something more beautiful than it began. Raffia carries the memory of light and heat. Kauna grass from the wetlands of Manipur has a tighter weave than most synthetic counterparts and leaves the earth as it found it.
We source every raw material through verified, responsible channels. Our leather comes from tanneries that meet strict international quality and environmental standards. Our natural fibres are sourced from artisan communities across India — communities whose skills are generational and whose livelihoods depend on the continued demand for what they make.
When you buy from Baghpat House, you are not simply buying a product. You are part of a supply chain that pays a fair price to people who know their craft.
For most of our existence, we made things for brands, not individuals. That changes now.
The same hands that have supplied some of Europe's finest retailers are now open to retail orders — for those who want a piece made with the same rigour, the same material standards, and the same refusal to cut corners that has defined everything we have ever produced.
Whether you are buying one piece or ordering for a boutique, the standard remains the same. We make things to last. We make them by hand. We make them from materials the earth provided.
